Your Past Is Screwing Up Your Future—Here’s How to Break the Cycle and Take Control

You can’t change the past… but you CAN stop acting like a muppet in the present. 🤷♂️💥
Yeah, you messed up. We all have. That night you said “just one pint” and woke up in a stranger’s kitchen? Too late. That payday splurge that left you skint by Monday? Done.
But you know what’s even dumber? Letting your past mistakes keep screwing up your future.
Stop Letting Your Past Dictate Your Future
I get it. I was the king of self-sabotage. I told myself I’d quit ketamine “next week” more times than I can count. I spent money I didn’t have, burned bridges with people who cared, and wondered why my life was going nowhere.
Then, one day, I had a realisation—my future wasn’t being stolen from me; I was handing it away.
It’s time to snap out of it. Here’s how you actually take control:
1. Own Your Screw-Ups (Then Move On)
Regret is like quicksand—the more you fight it, the deeper you sink. Instead of replaying your mistakes, own them, learn from them, and use them as fuel.
I could’ve let my past define me as “the addict,” “the guy in debt,” “the screw-up.” Instead, I flipped the script. I used my past as proof that I could overcome anything.
👉 ACTION STEP: Write down your biggest past mistakes. Then, next to each one, write what you learned from it. That’s not failure—that’s experience.
2. Swap the Self-Destruction for Self-Discipline
You already have an addictive personality. You don’t need to “get rid” of it—you need to redirect it.
For me, that was boxing. Instead of chasing a high, I chased self-mastery. Every punch I threw, every round I lasted in the ring, I was proving to myself that I could do hard things.
👉 ACTION STEP: Pick something that challenges you—something that demands discipline. The gym, running, learning a skill, starting a business. Pour your energy into it and watch your life shift.
3. Cut Out the Anchors Keeping You Stuck
Look around you. Who’s reinforcing your old habits? Who’s keeping you in the same loop? I had to walk away from people who wanted to keep me as “party guy,” “wasteman,” or “addict.”
Was it easy? No. But staying in the same cycle of destruction would’ve been worse.
👉 ACTION STEP: Audit your circle. If someone isn’t helping you grow, they’re holding you back. Choose wisely.
4. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
Your comfort zone is killing you. Growth doesn’t happen when you feel safe—it happens when you push yourself into the unknown.
Boxing forced me into situations where I wanted to quit, where I doubted myself, where I felt weak. And guess what? That’s where I grew.
👉 ACTION STEP: Do something today that makes you uncomfortable—speak up, say no to a bad habit, wake up earlier, go for that hard workout. Prove to yourself that you can handle the discomfort.
5. Make a Decision—and Actually Stick to It
At some point, you have to decide. Not “think about it.” Not “wait for motivation.” Decide that you are done being a prisoner to your past.
I decided I was done being addicted, broke, and lost. And that decision? It changed my life.
👉 ACTION STEP: Right now, say out loud: I am done letting my past control me. I am in charge now. Then act like it.
Your Future Is Waiting—What Are You Gonna Do About It?
I went from addiction and debt to stepping into the boxing ring, building a life worth living, and helping others break free, too. And if I can do it, so can you.
But you have to want it. You have to choose it. You have to fight for it.
So, what’s it gonna be? Repeat the same cycle… or finally take control?
Your move. 👊
What if you could break free from the habits that are holding you back, start each day with a sense of purpose, and become the man you’ve always known you could be?
This isn’t a fantasy. This is your reality—if you choose it. And the choice is now.
